I have got this enclosure a few weeks ago. I have put in a Seagate 500 GB laptop HDD in it and it worked flawlessly with the USB 3.0 on my laptop, average speed is 2-3 times faster (80-90 MB/sec) than USB 2.0, when using the USB 2.0 connection on the same laptop (~30MB/sec).
One potential problem for this nice looking plastic enclosure is heat dissipation. It runs hotter than my other enclosures that are made of aluminum.

I returned this item after one night of non-usage. First the plastic looks and feels cheap. I opened it up, installed my disc and closed as instructed. By the way, I am an electronics engineer and quite accustomed to handling and fixing electronics so I can assure you I installed it right. When I plug into my USB drive, the hard drive would give out a funny sound likes its having a hard time to run. I opened the casing and left it open and plug it again, this time it worked. On further investigation, it appeared that the cover presses too much on the hard drive when ever closed and screwed. Faulty design I would say.
